So Is that Generalized Anxiety ?? I have navere heard of that befor.
I suffer from anxiety caused by stress at work. Actually I developed it a couple of years ago and it recently came back full force after a career change. It’s affecting my blood pressure I can tell, because I feel most of the time like I’m in a heightened anxiety state (tightened chest) on the verge of an attack, whether I’m at work or not.
I’ve read about beta blockers being used for anxiety but when I asked a question about them last night people said that’s not what I should talk to my MD about. Other people said it is. I’m confused. What’s the best treatment for an anxiety disorder like this?
Actually I can tell my blood pressure is affected because I can no longer drink coffee or soda without getting dizzy and sometimes getting blurry vision. I’m calling to make an appointment with my MD today- I just want to know what to talk to him about and what suggestions I can make that he might not think of.
I have symptoms of both anxiety and panic attacks and I am pre menopausal. How do I know if this is what I really have – how do I get a diagnosis?
Common symptoms include anxiety, nausea, sleeplessness at night, wanting to be outside in the fresh air away from contraints and conflict.
Has anyone heard of Lydia Pinkham tablets – herbal remedies (they say they are good for menstruation and menopause?)
You can talk to your doctor for a real diagnosis. I had my first panic attack when aged 37. It isfrightened the pants off me! I do not know what happened, but I thought I would die. Both my GP and OB / GYN diagnosed anxiety attacks. Both said it was very common, it is at this age. I found relief in Zoloft. For over 4 years and always I’m taking the darn stuff. Side effects are temporary, and completely tolerable. I work full time and am able to enjoy a normal life with my husband and my children. I have never tried any pills, but I tried self-help books, tapes, tea, etc. I found this exercise helps a lot. When I feel an attack onsetting, I do work such as floor cleaning, folding clothes, re-organization of the drawers, or anything that does not require much concentration and is a physical distraction until it moves off me.

Help for anxiety?
I experience a lot of social anxiety very often. Sometimes, if I have to start speaking with a very nice guy or go to a job interviews, really I get so scared and almost have a panic attack. However, I really do not want to resort to prescription drugs as they do just mask the effects and are so difficult to stop taking. Does anyone know the remedies, natural treatments, or some other means to help combat this?
Social anxiety can be difficult to treat, especially if severe. However anxiety is more of a disorder. Medications might help alleviate the worst of the symptoms for you. Seeing a consultant psychologist or taking a course of CognitiveBehavioralTherapy can be most helpful too.
